Background:

Watersheds on the East Coast of Vancouver Island, such as the Tsolum River watershed, have limited natural surface water storage and are more susceptible to periods of drought. With expanding residential and agricultural areas and a projected 17% decrease in summertime precipitation by 2050, there are concerns over delicate water supplies in the region. We can all help.

  • Irrigation System Selection and Performance
  •  System Improvement and Maintenance
  • Water Licensing and Farm Water Requirements
  • Pump Requirements
  • Irrigation System Assessment

Afternoon Session (1:00 pm – 3:30 pm):

  • Climate Data Monitoring
  • Irrigation Scheduling Methods and Efficiency
  • Update on the Tsolum River Agricultural Watershed Plan (CVRD)

This workshop is brought to you by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, the Irrigation Industry Association of British Columbia (IIABC), and the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD).
