New Playground Opens in Fanny Bay

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) celebrated the official opening of the new Fanny Bay community playground this week. Members of the community were invited to come see the new playground facility and celebrate the opening.

“The Fanny Bay Community Playground is truly a celebration of a community working together to develop a beautiful new space to enjoy,” explains CVRD Electoral Area A Director Daniel Arbour. “In the rural areas of the Comox Valley, recreation amenities like this one ensure that residents can spend quality time with friends, neighbours, and family without having to travel a great distance."

In 2019, local Fanny Bay residents brought forward an idea for a new playground. With the support of the Fanny Bay Community Association, local volunteers, and the CVRD this vision became a reality. Funding for this project was provided by the Electoral Area Community Works Funds. Community Works Funds are provided by way of a transfer of Federal Gas Tax Funds to Local Governments to provide a source of stable, predictable, and long-term funding towards environmentally sustainable infrastructure within communities.
