Learn about solar power and energy efficiency at open house

As part of its commitment to community sustainability, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) will be hosting a solar power and energy efficiency open house from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, May 29 at the CVRD boardroom, 550 Comox Road in Courtenay. This is a great opportunity to learn more about solar energy and how it may work for you and your home. This is also a great opportunity to learn about other home heating and energy efficiency incentives available from the CVRD.

The CVRD has contracted Hakai Energy Solutions to install a 6.4kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system at a CVRD water services facility on Puntledge Road. As part of the project, representatives from Hakai will be at the open house to present information on current solar PV technology, and new technology on the horizon. Hakai will also provide information regarding a bulk purchase opportunity which will provide competitive solar panel pricing to participating local residents and organizations.

Following the solar presentation, there will be information presented about other home heating and energy efficiency incentives available from the CVRD, including the wood stove exchange program, the Oil to Heat Pump program, incentives for energy efficient new homes built to BC’s Energy Step Code, and EnerGuide incentives for existing homes.
