Transit driver appreciation day is Wednesday March 18, and it’s a great opportunity for those of you who ride the buses in the Comox Valley to give a “shout out” to the bus driver on the route – or routes – you ride.
For hours on end, transit drivers manage to keep a schedule, check fares, give directions, remember stop requests and more, all while safely maneuvering an extra-large vehicle through unpredictable traffic, adverse weather conditions and some really tight spaces! The fact is, transit drivers don't have an easy job, they just make it look that way.
You can celebrate transit driver appreciation day by something as simple as a ‘thank you’ to your driver when you board the bus on March 18. You can Tweet your appreciation using the hashtag #tdad. The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) partners with BC Transit and contractor Watson & Ash to deliver transit service in the Comox Valley. Together these groups gather public feedback, establish schedules, set fare levels, and look at growth patterns to determine future expansion of the system.
The Comox Valley transit system serves most of the Comox Valley and links up with the Campbell River transit system at the Oyster River. In recent years, the Comox Valley transit system has experienced one of the fastest growing ridership rates of all transit systems in BC.
