The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is encouraging the community to support BC Drinking Water Week 2016, May 1 -7, by learning more about your water and what you can do to protect it.
In recognition of this special week, on Saturday, May 7 CVRD representatives will be on location at the entrance to the Courtenay Museum (207-4th Street) from 1- 4 pm. Learn more about your water system, seasonal weather patterns that influence our water source, and expand your knowledge by participating in family activities that involve exploring inside the museum for fun facts on water.
“BC Drinking Water Week allows us to focus on this most important resource. By understanding how you get your water, we can work together to protect our source and keep it sustainable now and into the future,” said Mike Herschmiller, CVRD’s manager of water services. “Come talk water with us. Learn where your water comes from, ask questions about our local infrastructure and walk away with tips on how to take advantage of the 2016 water efficiency rebate programs.”
The CVRD also encourages people to go online and show your love for water by pledging to protect, conserve, and support water resources and systems through a province-wide contest. Those who make a pledge are entered in a draw for one of three Whistler weekend prize packages. To be eligible complete the pledge at www.valueofwater.ca/take-action before May 31, 2016.
