As a charitable activity in the past few years Comox Valley Transit has participated in events to stuff a bus with toys and food donated by the public for the Comox Valley Food Bank. Following this vein, this year we are stuffing the bus with people to raise awareness about Comox Valley Transit’s role in reducing local traffic congestion while raising funds for local charities.
Our next “Stuff the Bus” event will be at Nautical Days at 2pm on Saturday, July 30th. Finneron Hyundai is proudly supporting this event and will be donating $2 for every person who gets on the bus to Kidsport Comox Valley.
“This event will illustrate that transporting 60 people by bus uses less road space than that required by 60 vehicles” states Vince Van Tongeren, policy and sustainability analyst with the Comox Valley Regional District. “Having proud community partners has helped evolve this event and will hopefully encourage increased transit use in the Comox Valley.”
This is all part of the Comox Valley Transit’s In2Transit promotion. This year, you can once again win monthly prizes by snapping a selfie on the bus in the Comox Valley, and posting it with #In2Transit to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. You will also be entered to win one of three grand prizes: a $250 Dine around Town Gift Certificate package, a 16GB iPad Mini from My Tech Guys, or $500 cash. For more information on this promotion, “Stuff the Bus” and BC Transit services visit www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/in2transit.
Also note that transit service on Monday, August 1 to Festival Weekend in Comox is free. Donations to offset the cost of the service will be accepted.
The Comox Valley Regional District is a federation of three electoral areas and three municipalities providing sustainable services for residents and visitors to the area. The members of the regional district work collaboratively on services for the benefit of the diverse urban and rural areas of the Comox Valley.
