The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), as part of the Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project and Town of Comox infrastructure upgrades, is required to implement a traffic pattern change on Comox Avenue. Beginning mid-April at Rodello Street, Comox Avenue will become one-way in sections, with traffic flowing west, towards Glacier View Drive (MAP 1).
Estimated start date for construction on Comox Avenue is April 14, 2025. Construction will take place Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 8:00 pm. Traffic will be one-way through the construction zone 24 hours/day.
Two-way bike and pedestrian traffic will be possible on Comox Avenue through the construction zone.
Construction on Comox Avenue is estimated to span the duration of April to October 2025. There will be multiple phases of construction, including sewer forcemain work, Town of Comox infrastructure upgrades, new cement curbs and sidewalks, paving, as well as the construction of two new roundabouts at Glacier View Drive and Rodello Street. Construction will be sequenced to maximize the time that eastbound vehicular traffic can travel from Comox Road hill into Comox, and regular updates to those who live and work in the corridor will be provided. - Detour signs will be up for residents who reside within construction zones or will be impacted by the construction.
- Drivers are advised to add extra time to their commutes, watch for detour signage, and follow posted speed limits.
- Businesses on Comox Avenue are open during construction. Please follow the detour routes to continue to visit shops and businesses on Comox Avenue.
- Construction is subject to suitable weather conditions or other possible construction-related delays. We apologize if timelines shift.
