Comox Valley Emergency Management is encouraging residents and visitors of Denman and Hornby Islands to register for free local emergency notifications. Our ‘Get Notified’ tool (Connect Rocket) is a free, subscription-based service that allows local governments to distribute local emergency alerts. Registration is required online to receive these emergency alerts.
Want help signing up? Come visit Comox Valley Emergency Management staff at the below events:
- Blackberry Fair (Denman Island) – September 1 (11:00 am – 4:00 pm)
- Hornby Island Fall Fair – September 15 (10:00 am – 4:00 pm)
“Whether you’re a full time or part-time resident, or you’re like me and you love to visit Denman and Hornby Islands, we encourage you to be prepared to look after yourself and your loved ones in any scenario,” explains Cari McIntyre, Emergency Planning Coordinator. “A simple way to be better prepared is to ‘Get Notified’ and sign up to Connect Rocket, our local emergency notification system.”
The registration process is simple. Visit www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/getnotified and follow the steps outlined to set up your account. Notifications are delivered directly to mobile and landline phones. Make sure to register for emergency notifications in the communities where you live, work and play.
If you wish to receive notifications to your mobile device or landline but do not have a computer, please call 250-334-6000 and we will help set up your account for you. All you need to know is the phone number you wish to use and which emergency notification list(s) you wish to subscribe to.
