The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is excited to announce Jennifer Nelson will be joining the team as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on January 4, 2022. As the CFO, Jennifer will lead the financial, accounting, insurance, procurement, asset management and contracting functions for the organization and will be key in ensuring an integrated approach aligning to the CVRD Board’s strategic priorities.
Jennifer comes to the CVRD from the City of Courtenay, where Jennifer has been the Director of Financial Services since 2018 where she oversaw all operations within the Financial Services department. Jennifer started with the City in 2003 and increased her responsibilities with the City over that time. Jennifer has a deep background in financial planning and working with the public. Holding a CPA, CGA, and being a member of the Government Financial Officers Association, Jennifer will continue to ensure a strong financial position and strategic direction for the CVRD.
“Ensuring effective financial planning and fiscal responsibility is a top priority for the CVRD,” explains Russell Dyson, Chief Administrative Officer. “We are excited to have Jennifer part of our team. Our goal is to always deliver affordable top quality services to our residents.”
The Comox Valley Regional District is a federation of three electoral areas and three municipalities providing sustainable services for residents and visitors to the area. The members of the regional district work collaboratively on services for the benefit of the diverse urban and rural areas of the Comox Valley.
