A high fire risk activity ban is in place in the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) due to the extreme fire rating. Fire service regulations in place prohibit the use of power saws, and other power tools that may create fire or sparks during extremely dry conditions.
“Public health and safety as well as protection of property is our number one concern,” said CVRD Manager of Fire Services James Bast.
Prohibited activities during this high fire risk activity ban include use of chainsaws, brush cutting with metal blades and any type of land clearing.
Residents may direct all inquiries or concerns to their local fire hall. For more information on which activities are allowed or restricted visit /services/fire .
The Comox Valley Regional District is a federation of three electoral areas and three municipalities providing sustainable services for residents and visitors to the area. The members of the regional district work collaboratively on services for the benefit of the diverse urban and rural areas of the Comox Valley.
