The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is excited to announce opportunities for residents and families to get out and enjoy our community parks this year with either self-directed or guided nature programs.
Family Trails
The CVRD has partnered with Family Trails. The purpose is to provide opportunities for residents with young children to meet up to enjoy regular self-directed outings in CVRD Parks. The program is free and is organized in partnership with Building Connections for Valley Families Program This winter and spring get outside and enjoy.

Guided Naturalist Park Walks
Every month the CVRD will be hosting guided naturalist park walks on a Saturday. The guided walks are free for anyone to enjoy. Pets are asked to remain at home for these guided walks. The program is proudly supported by The Building Connections for Valley Families Project.
- Tree & Plant Identification: January 15, 10 – noon, Seal Bay Nature Park
Information: For children 5-14 plus their families. Meet at the parking lot on Bates Road. - Cultural, Agricultural & Natural History of One Spot Trail: February 12, 10 – noon, One Spot Trail.
Information: All ages welcome! Meet at Dove Creek Hall on Burns Road. We will walk the trail section south from Burns Road to Piercy & back, (approx. 1 hour) and then part of the section north of Burns Road & back. (approx. 1 hour). - Life on the River: March 12, 10 – noon, Tsolum River
Information: All ages welcome! Meet at the parking lot area in front of the Curling Rink. - Learn All About Seals & Spring Flowers: April 16, 10 – noon, Seal Bay
Information: All ages welcome! Meet at the parking lot on Bates Road. - Shoreline & Shells: May 14, 10- 12:30 pm, Ships Point.
Information: All ages welcome! Meet at Fanny Bay Community Hall on HW 19A. Walk along the beach and across the peninsula and rest at Arbutus Corner (southern tip).
All nature programs will be adhering to the current public health requirements for outdoor sport.
