On March 22, 2023, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) had the pleasure of hosting a World Water Day event at its new water treatment facility. The event was attended by a Grade 6/7 class from Ecole Robb Road School, as well as 50 Comox Valley residents. World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness about access to safe drinking water globally.
Participants had the opportunity to take a tour of the new facility, learn about the CVRD's water treatment process and to reflect on our collective gratitude for having access to safe, clean drinking water. This new Water Treatment Facility manages safe drinking water for more than 50,000 residents of the Comox Valley.

In addition to the facility tour, a large group of attendees took a historic walk of the surrounding Bevan Trails to connect with the natural environment and learn about the history of the Comox Lake Watershed.

"We are thrilled to have provided educational tours on World Water Day," said the CVRD’s Connected by Water team member, Tina Willard-Stepan. "We are pleased to have had the opportunity to engage with the community, to talk about our watershed, and to showcase the new water treatment facility."
For those interested in the next tour opportunity (likely in the Fall of 2023), please call 250-334-6056 to be added to the list. For inquiries about school tours, contact pollinatecommunity@gmail.com.
