CVRD hires new General Manager of Planning and Development Services

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) announced that Scott Smith will be their new General Manager of Planning and Development Services starting September 17, 2018.  As the General Manager Planning and Development Services, he will oversee the planning, development, building, and bylaw services for the organization and will be key in ensuring an integrated approach aligning to the CVRD’s key strategic priorities.

With over 20 years of local government experience, 18 of which are within the senior management team at the City of Port Alberni, Scott has considerable experience. During his tenure with the City of Port Alberni he has been responsible for several large land acquisitions and development projects involving extensive project management, engineering services, and stakeholder relations. As well, he has been been the Approving Officer for the City of Port Alberni for the last 14 years.

“Scott’s approach to simple, straight forward processes and effective stakeholder engagement will be crucial moving forward,” explains CVRD Chief Administrative Officer Russell Dyson. “Combined with his fresh ideas and effective leadership skills, we are extremely excited to have Scott part of our team.”

The Comox Valley Regional District is a federation of three electoral areas and three municipalities providing sustainable services for residents and visitors to the area. The members of the regional district work collaboratively on services for the benefit of the diverse urban and rural areas of the Comox Valley.
