The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) and CUPE 556, union local representing approximately 84 employees have agreed on a new two year collective agreement. On ratification, it will provide continued labour relations stability within our CUPE staffed services in the CVRD.
“From an employer perspective, we continue to appreciate the support and business acumen of CUPE representatives,” states Julie Bradley, Executive Manager of Human Resources with the CVRD. “We are pleased with the results of bargaining and moving forward with this partnership to enhance service delivery in the Comox Valley.”
The agreement, which will cover January 1, 2019 until December 31, 2020 provides a two per cent wage increase per year. Other highlights in the agreement include certainty around service delivery to the community as well as health benefit enhancements.
“We would like to acknowledge the positive working relationship we have with the CVRD,” states Karen Garrett, President of CUPE 556. “Because of this relationship between the employer and our members, negotiations were respectful and successful for both parties. Our members throughout the Comox Valley work hard and take pride in the services we provide in our communities.
