The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) recently acquired new parklands within Electoral Area C.
The CVRD received a 4.51 acre land donation from Resolute North Holdings Ltd. through the federal Ecological Gifts Program. This donation is located adjacent to Maris Nature Park. A management planning process is currently underway for Maris Nature Park with public engagement planned in 2025 where community feedback will inform the planning process.
More information on the Maris Nature Park Planning Process can be found at: www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/maris.
The CVRD also acquired two land parcels with a combined area of 115.86 acres next to Spike Road Park, significantly increasing the size of this park holding and further improving its ecological value. Public engagement to support a management plan for Spike Road Park is expected to occur in 2026.

“It is important to note that both Maris Nature Park and Spike Road Park will remain inactive and not open to the public until their respective park management plans have been completed and the appropriate visitor infrastructure is in place,” explains Mark Harrison, Manager of Parks. “We ask that residents do not enter these parks at this time. Official announcements regarding public engagement and park openings will be communicated once the management plans for these new park spaces have begun.”
The Comox Valley Regional District is a partnership of three electoral areas and three municipalities operating on the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of the land. The members of the regional district work collaboratively on providing sustainable services for the benefit of the diverse urban and rural areas of the Comox Valley.
