The first phase of the new landfill at the Comox Valley Waste Management Centre will start receiving waste in August as the current site reaches capacity. The new facility meets or exceeds all current provincial requirements for landfill design, construction, and operation.
The Comox Valley Regional District’s (CVRD) Sewage Commission has received a Spill Response Plan for the Comox Valley sewage system, which includes the forcemain (pipe) that moves wastewater from Courtenay and Comox to the sewage treatment plant located on Brent Road.

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) and Island Health have lifted the boil water notice for all users of the Comox Valley water system, effective immediately. The notice was issued on May 31 due to a positive E. coli sample from the Comox Reservoir. Island Health requires that a boil water notice be issued immediately when E. coli is detected in the treated water. Only after three days of clean samples can the boil water notice be lifted.
