Statement on the passing of Tahsis Mayor Jude Schooner

“It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our friend and colleague Jude Schooner over the weekend,” announced Bruce Jolliffe, Chair of the Comox Valley Regional District, who issued the following statement on behalf of the CVRD this morning:
As a director for Comox Strathcona Waste Management and the Comox Strathcona Regional Hospital District, Director Schooner was liked and respected at the board table for her professionalism and her dedication to the community of Tahsis.
From the outpouring of support from those who knew her both personally and professionally, it is clear that Jude touched many lives during her time with us. She was a committed advocate for her community and fought tirelessly for those projects that would improve the quality of life for its residents.
Director Schooner shall be remembered as a thoughtful, strong and compassionate individual who believed in the power of building relationships to influence positive change. She will be greatly missed by all of us at the CVRD.

Up to 80 per cent of boil water notices will be avoided with new temporary measure
The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) completed installation of interim ultraviolet (UV) treatment system at its chlorination station on Friday, January 19 which helped avoid a boil water notice over the weekend. The Regional District is now awaiting changes to its operating permit but given the weather forecast, Island Health has granted the CVRD temporary permission to use the system.
