CSWM Launches Illegal Dumping Prevention Program

Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM) has launched a new program aimed at preventing illegal dumping across the region. Illegal dumping is a growing problem in the CSWM service area with more than 500 illegal dump sites documented since 2012. Illegal dumping harms the environment and can have serious, long-lasting impacts on our region.
Beginning the week of April 17, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) will begin work to replace the aging sewer forcemain serving HMCS Quadra.
Regional district board approves 2017 budget

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) board of directors has adopted the 2017 budget that includes a total consolidated budget of $112.2 million (a net operating budget for the year of $70.6 million and total capital spending of $41.6 million).
The Comox Valley Regional District’s (CVRD) draft master plan for the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds will be presented to the public at an open house on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the CVRD boardroom, 550B Comox Road in Courtenay.
The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) will be conducting water main flushing in the Royston water system from March 27 through April 7, 2017.

CSWM responds to federal infrastructure funding announcement

Infrastructure Canada has recently announced funding for a number of projects across small B.C. communities including $5.5 million for the Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM) service to implement a regional organics composting facility to service the entire CSWM service area. The remaining $2.77 million of the $8.3 million project will be funded by the service.
The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is inviting residents of the region to the Civic Centre CVRD regional office conceptual design open house on Tuesday, March 21st. Residents can drop-in anytime between 4 – 7 pm to check out the conceptual designs, provide feedback, ask questions of the architect and learn more about the project.
Staff at the Comox Valley Regional District’s (CVRD) sports and aquatic centres have been busy organizing new boredom-busting special events, programs and daycamps to keep kids active this March.
